City of Los Angeles chooses Drupal solution from Acquia Featured

By

Boston-based company Acquia has secured a contract to supply a Drupal-based solution to the City of Los Angeles.

The Acquia Cloud Site Factory will be deployed to build, manage and govern the City's public-facing digital assets. More than 20 separate websites belonging to the City will be migrated to Drupal, an open source web management platform.

The City joins the Los Angeles Public Library, the LA Philharmonic, and Visit Los Angeles as sites that are using the platform.

Formerly, the City of LA managed its sites with a legacy Oracle Stellent content management system. The move to open source reflects a current trend among public-facing sites that have to scale to a large number of users.

"As the second largest City in the United States, almost four million people depend on our web presence to access important City services and information," a media release quoted Ted Ross, assistant general manager for technology solutions for the City of LA, as saying.

"Acquia Cloud Site Factory is letting us quickly scale our digital presence and increase citizen access to services, while ensuring a consistent experience for the City’s visitors."
