D-Link launches new AC1200 and AC750 mesh range extenders to eliminate your Wi-Fi dead spots

If the hierarchy of needs were constructed today it would surely include stable Wi-Fi only slightly below air, water, and food. If you have Wi-Fi dead zones inside your home or business, D-Link has a solution for you.

D-Link has announced its newest mesh Wi-Fi range extenders, both including WPA3 wireless encryption for maximum security. The DAP-1610 and DAP-1530 are portable, plug-in wireless extenders to boost the reach of your existing Wi-Fi.

The DAP-1610 offers dual-band 802.11ac wireless speeds of up to 1200Mbps, with 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 900Mbps on the 5GHz band. Its dual-band reduces interference from other wireless transmitters and provides backwards compatibility with older devices. You can plug it into a power point and extend your existing Wi-Fi from that location, and it also includes a gigabit ethernet port which gives you even greater reach - plug it into ethernet cabling and broadcast Wi-Fi at full strength from that point.

The DAP-1610 can work with any existing Wi-Fi network or Ethernet network. If you combine it with compatible D-Link Wi-Fi 5 mesh routers then it will also create a seamless whole-home mesh network, picking up the same Wi-Fi name as your existing network.

With mesh smart roaming your devices can intelligently switch to a stronger Wi-Fi signal as you move about your house. You can pair this with any router or extender that supports the 802.11k/v standard to enjoy mesh smart roaming through your home.

Setup is dead simple; either use the single-touch WPS button to join the extender to an existing network if you have WPS enabled, or install the free D-Link Wi-Fi app onto your smartphone or tablet, and find and set up the device from there.

The DAP-1610 includes an LED signal strength display so you can position the device in the best spot to boost your home network.

Meanwhile, the DAP-1530 AC750 mesh Wi-Fi range extender is also a plug-in Wi-Fi repeater, with AC speeds up to 750Mbps despite its diminutive size. It’s also an effortlessly straightforward device to set up and use, and also includes an LED signal strength indicator and one-touch WPS configuration. It supports dual-band 802.11ac technology and also provides mesh options when paired with 802.11k/v devices, as well as WPA3 wireless encryption.

The primary differences between the two models are the DAP-1610 provides AC1200 Wi-Fi to the DAP-1530’s AC750, but both provide high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, an ethernet port, IPv6 support, signal strength, and a simple plug-in design.

Both devices are available now from D-Link's website (both AU and NZ) for $129.95 (NZ $149.99) for the DAP-1610 and $99.95 (NZ $129.95) for the DAP-1530, as well as through authorised partners and retailers.
