The acquisition is expected to be finalised by the end of Cisco's first-quarter for the financial year 2021.
A statement from Cisco said its own expertise in network and application performance coupled with ThousandEyes' visibility into the Internet would give users an end-to-end view of the digital delivery of applications and services.
Todd Nightingale, senior vice-president and general manager, Cisco Enterprise Networking and Cloud, said: “The combination of Cisco and ThousandEyes will enable deeper and broader visibility to pinpoint deficiencies and improve the network and application performance across all networks.
Cisco said ThousandEyes would join its newly setup Networking Services business unit which is managed by Nightingale.
ThousandEyes' chief executive and co-founder Mohit Lad will become general manager of the unit while the other co-founder, chief technology officer Ricardo Oliveira, will continue to be in charge product vision and innovation.
