Vodafone puts Stan on phones Featured

Vodafone Australia has entered into a mobile content partnership with streaming service Stan, continuing its drive for video on demand on mobile phones.

Vodafone and Stan have announced an exclusive mobile partnership to give Vodafone customers access to Stan content. Stan is a joint venture between Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media.

The agreement builds on Vodafone’s partnerships with Spotify and Fairfax Media. Vodafone’s CEO Iñaki Berroeta said Vodafone remains committed to offering its customers the best experience. “Vodafone is a leader in premium content, bringing our customers the world’s best entertainment and news to enjoy on their smartphones and tablets.

“Stan is a fantastic addition to Vodafone’s leading range of premium content. The reason we’ve chosen to partner with Stan is simple: we believe it offers Australian customers the best range of local and international TV and movies,” said Berroeta.

Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said: “Vodafone has been an innovator in bringing content to consumers through their mobile network. Our partnership with Vodafone, which has over five million customers, is a key part of our strategy to make Stan accessible to as many Australians as possible.”

Berroeta said advances in network technology opens up a world of new possibilities for mobile entertainment. He quoted figures from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), which show that nearly half of all Australians streamed video or audio content in the six months to June 2014.

“We’re already seeing a significant increase in customers watching video content on their mobile devices. With Stan they can get unlimited access to the content they want, when and where they want.”

Berroeta said Vodafone will announce full details of its Stan offer in the coming weeks.
