Otterbox sparkles with Crystal Edition protection for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

With new smartphones come new protective cases, offering not just top-notch protection but fashionable and luxurious Swarovski crystal beauty, too.

Billed as being "exclusive to the Asia Pacific region", Otterbox proudly boasts that its Symmetry Series Crystal Edition is crafted with genuine Swarovski crystals fabric to offer "exceptional brilliance".

Rob Kovacs, OtterBox vice-president of Business Development in the APAC region, said: “The OtterBox Symmetry Series Crystal Edition is the perfect smartphone case for anyone looking for extra summer sparkle and glamour for their must-have accessory.

“This premium case adds a touch of luxe to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, while staying true to providing our customers with the ultimate in style and protection.”

The case isn’t protective against water — both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus already offer IP67 water resistance — but what the Symmetry Series does offer besides luxe brilliance is to pack in as much protection as possible, being "custom-designed to provide superior dual-material protection against bumps, drops and shock".

Indeed, the case has OtterBox’s "Certified Drop+ Protection", which means it has been "put through 24+ tests and 238+ hours of rigorous testing, including a hand lotion and makeup resistance test, jeans pocket test and even a sweat test".

In addition, we are told that the case features a "pocket-friendly slim design – tough protection without the bulk".

On top of these features comes "Alpha Glass – OtterBox’s ultra-thin fortified glass screen protector", which is said to provide "total touchscreen protection while preserving the iPhone screen’s natural beauty and responsiveness".

So, what about colour and cost?

The Symmetry Series Crystal Edition is available in three colours – Black Ombre Crystal, Blue Ombre Crystal and Fractal Crystal.

Pricing for both cases is only available in US dollars, meaning the price in Australian dollars will be higher.

The iPhone 7 case is US$99.95, while the iPhone 7 Plus case is US$109.95, with both avaialble to order at the Otterbox website. A flat rate of $9.99 for shipping to Australia and New Zealand is offered, which is presumably in US dollars, too.

At time of publication, the iPhone 7 Plus Swarovski cases are not listed at Otterbox’s site, but given the news of their availability only arrived today, there’ a great chance you will see the 7 Plus Swarovski cases listed at this page showing all of Otterbox’s 7 Plus case range.
