Citrix tweaks GoToMyPC, GoToAssist for Samsung's Android range

By

Updates to Citrix's remote access and remote support software deliver optimisation for Samsung's range of Android devices, including the Galaxy Note II.

GoToMyPC and GoToAssist are widely used services for remote access to PCs and remote support.

Citrix has now optimised the GoToMyPC app for Android to support the S Pen feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

According to company officials, the S Pen provides faster and more accurate interaction with the remote computer than a finger.

The app automatically detects when the S Pen is in use.

GoToMyPC can be used from any computer browser, Android or iOS smartphones or tablets, and the Kindle Fire.

Citrix has also worked with Samsung to allow the use of the GoToAssist Corporate app to allow remote control and support of Samsung devices running Android versions 2.3.x, 4.0.x and 4.1.x.

"We're making it easier for companies of all sizes to seamlessly transition to more mobile workstyles and support the broad area of devices consumers choose to do their work," said Brett Caine, senior vice president and general manager of Citrix's online services division.

"Our new mobile apps for Samsung Android devices are a strong example of our approach to deliver an exceptional user experience across any combination of data, apps and devices," he added.

"Our focus on delivering secure, reliable and easy-to-use services remains key for our customers and their end users."

Samsung is understandably enthusiastic about the arrangement.

"As a leading provider of mobile access, support and collaboration solutions for the mobile workforce, Citrix shares our commitment to transforming the way consumers interact, connect and create on their mobile devices," said Jae Shin, vice president and B2B alliance group leader of Samsung Electronics' mobile communications division.

"We're excited to provide our customers quick and easy access to market-leading apps like GoToAssist and GoToMyPC right from their Samsung Android devices."
