Belkin wireless charger recalled

Certain Belkin portable wireless chargers with model numbers WIZ003auBK-APL & WIZ003auWH-APL have been recalled.

The Belkin WIZ003 is a combined power bank and wireless charging stand for iPhones and Qi-compatible phones.

It is capable of delivering up to 10W wireless charging for Qi 1.3 devices and 7.5W wireless charging for certain iPhones. A 5W USB-A charging connector is also provided

According to the recall notice, "A manufacturing defect in the power supply unit can cause the charger to malfunction and overheat" leading to "Risk of fire or electric shock, which can cause serious injury or death."

The affected units were sold between 1 July and 31 October 2020, and have serial numbers in the following ranges:

35B01DO6029400 to 35B01DO6033704
35B01DO5010350 to 35B01DO5014350
35B01DO6016560 to 35B01DO6020560
35B01DO5014500 to 35B01DO5020003
35B01DO6010001 to 35B01DO6010500
35B01DO6010501 to 35B01DO6015500

Owners are advised to stop using the chargers immediately.

They should then contact Belkin (1300 235 546, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm AEDT, or via this webform) to arrange a refund and receive instructions about the safe disposal of the product.
