Internode boosts data centre capacity in enterprise pitch

By
Internode is aggressively going after marketshare in the highly competitive enterprise broadband market with the boosting of capacity in its New South Wales data centre and the launch of symmetrical high-speed DSL2 services in Sydney and Melbourne.

The South Australian-based national ISP has focussed attention on the eastern states market, claiming that its trebling of capacity in its Ultimo data centre in Sydney, along with the launch of DSL2 services, enhances its appeal to enterprises on the east coast.

Internode’s national sales manager, Daryl Knight, said the company was committed to expanding its service offerings to the east coast enterprise market, and he said “committing to our own data centre footprint within one of the best facilities in Australia was a logical step in delivering customers what they’ve asked us for.”

According to Knight, access to dedicated data centre capacity is a bonus both for Internode and for its channel partners, systems integrators who use Internode as an enabler in the delivery of solutions for their customers.

“The launch of Extreme SHDSL services in Sydney and Melbourne guarantees our customers the high-speed two-way Internet access increasingly needed by businesses for next generation applications such as IP Telephony, Internet Virtual Private Networks, onsite web services and IP videoconferencing.”

Knight claims that with a high-speed national network and dedicated international links to the US and Asia, Internode has gained a “strong reputation as a responsive service provider for enterprise organisations,” and says the increased NSW data centre capacity and the launch of Extreme SHDSL services “further strengthen this credibility.”

Internode has established a secure, caged area at its NSW data centre that Knight says offers guaranteed 24-hour access for the company and its customers, with server slots in full, half and one-third rack configurations.

Knight says that Internode’s Extreme SHDSL, or Symmetric High-speed Digital Subscriber Line services, deliver both downstream and upstream Internet access at “guaranteed speeds from five to 40 megabits per second (Mbps), adding that the fully-symmetrical service is for businesses that have outgrown the uplink capacity of their ADSL2+ Internet connection, but find optical fibre ethernet alternatives too expensive.

“The launch of Extreme SHDSL services in Sydney and Melbourne guarantees our customers the high-speed two-way Internet access increasingly needed by businesses for next generation applications such as IP Telephony, Internet Virtual Private Networks, onsite web services and IP videoconferencing.”

Internode says the Sydney exchanges from which Internode Extreme SHDSL services are available are Haymarket, Glebe, Pitt Street, North Ryde, City South and Kent Street, and in Melbourne from Batman, Lonsdale and Exhibition.

Knight says Internode Extreme SHDSL services start at 5 Mbps and scale all the way to 40 Mbps, with prices ranging from $700 per month for a 5 Mbps service with a 25-gigabyte download quota to a completely unlimited 40 Mbps service for $4,000 a month.
