eBay Plus members get another shot at 2nd-gen AirPods for $169

The retail e-tail wars show no signs of abating as gargantuan Goliaths of online shopping continue tempting Aussies with dashing deals that, in this case, may literally be music to your ears.

eBay. Once "just" an auction site, it now styles itself as "Australia’s number one shopping destination", and presumably claims that on a global basis, too.

Locked in a huge war with Amazon and other plays for the hearts, minds and wallets for consumers, it has revealed an "insanely hot deal on the highly-sought-after Apple AirPods, following the item selling out in record time last month".

The deal is available exclusively for eBay Plus members, which is yet another front in the hotly contested battle for your attention and your dollars, as each major shopping destination and portal seeks ways to ensure your inevitable spending is done through their doors, and not someone else's.

So, what's the latest deal?

Well, it's no secret, as it is right there in the headline, with the details being that eBay will have "drops of the latest Apple AirPods with Wireless Charging will be released every hour from 10am – 4pm on 20 August at a cost of just $169 – offering a huge saving of $150 off the original price".

This eBay deals page is where you'll see all of eBay's deals, including the hourly AirPods drops.

eBay Australia’s Sophie Onikul said, “We know Aussies love a bargain and this is a rare opportunity to get hold of a cult-favourite Apple product at an exceptional discount.

“At eBay we’re proud to be able to offer savvy shoppers the greatest savings on the best products, all year round.

“Make sure you sign up to eBay Plus ahead of time and get in quick. At this price, we can’t guarantee they’ll last!”

As is the case with eBay's best deals, we're told that "shoppers who want to take advantage of the best deals can sign up to eBay Plus for just $49 for 12 months. Plus members receive free delivery and free returns on millions of eligible items, free delivery on Coles on eBay orders over $49, as well as exclusive access to special deals and double flybuys points. Shoppers can sign up for a free 30-day-trial here."
