Global IT services company, HCL Technologies has opened a new delivery centre in Adelaide following the signing last year of a six-year contract with agribusiness Elders.

The new delivery centre and office opening in Adelaide joins HCL’s network of Global Delivery Centres around the world, and as part of the contract with Elders HCL will build an intelligent sourcing model to support organisations with their digital transformation.

South Australia Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway, inaugurated the new centre.

HCL says it will work with Elders to achieve the company’s vision of an agile IT environment that supports future business growth and delivers quality service to clients across Australia and internationally.

Initially, HCL says it will help create 50 jobs in the Australian region, to add to the 1600-plus professionals currently employed by the company in the region.

“The establishment of HCL in Adelaide offers a significant opportunity for the local agribusiness sector to enhance their service offering to clients, both nationally and internationally, through innovative technology solutions,’’ said Ridgway.

“With South Australia’s strong credentials in defence and health industries as well as our emerging space and autonomous vehicle sectors, there will be many opportunities for high-calibre ICT solution companies, like HCL, in Adelaide.”

HCL says its engagement with local business was crucial to the smooth settlement into South Australia and the partnership provided a “perfect leverage for HCL to finally call South Australia home”.

“Our growing relationship with Elders over the past two years has brought us to Adelaide with the opening of our new office here," said Michael Horton, senior vice-president, Australia, HCL Technologies.

"The opening of this office reiterates the strategic importance of South Australia in HCL growth strategy and restates our commitment to the region at large.

"We are excited to explore other areas of growth in the region as well to build more future partnerships. We look forward to continue our engagement with the government and commitment towards strengthening the local ecosystem,” .

The South Australian Government, through its inbound and outbound business mission program, has been engaging with HCL to invest in South Australia by demonstrating the state’s strong credentials in various sectors and opportunities.
