Revolution, a long-time Progress partner, provides customer-facing solutions for motor vehicle, motorcycle and marine dealerships in Australia and New Zealand.
Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) said on Monday that it has wholly acquired “highly regarded software development and implementation business, Revolution Software Services, effective April 1, 2020.
“This acquisition will enhance TMCA's ability to deliver market-leading dealer software management solutions that will support the ongoing development of the Toyota and Lexus franchises as TMCA transitions into a mobility company,” Toyota said in a statement.

“Revolution is a trusted partner that has provided the advanced technologies and services for TMCA's dealer management system (DMS) known as TUNE since 2008.
“TMCA has worked closely with Revolution to minimise impacts to employees, and business operations will continue uninterrupted. In fact, Revolution will be actively recruiting and adding to its workforce as more dealers adopt TUNE,” TMCA said.
Toyota Australia Vice President Regional and Guest Operations Mike Rausa said more than 200 Toyota and Lexus dealers across Australia are expected to be using “this comprehensive and innovative platform by the end of 2023”.
“This acquisition gives us the ability to work closely with our dealers to integrate best-practice technologies and know-how in a challenging mobility environment,” Rausa said.
“Having a single DMS will provide a complete process and system solution designed to deliver industry-leading customer care through the country's pre-eminent retail network.”
Revolution CEO and co-founder Anthony Nadalini said the business would expand as more Toyota and Lexus dealers adopted TUNE.
“As a stand-alone company within the Toyota group, Revolution now has the certainty and security that will enhance its ability to provide cutting-edge services and support for existing as well as new customers,” Nadalini said.
“Revolution has been one of the fastest growing Progress partners in Australia and New Zealand. A multiple winner of the Progress Annual Global Partner Awards, its OpenEdge-based solution is used by more than 300 dealerships in the automotive, marine and motorcycle industries across the region, including TMCA and its luxury vehicle division, Lexus. The acquisition will enable Revolution to enhance its ability to provide cutting-edge services and support.
“Progress and its application development platform, OpenEdge, have been instrumental for the success of our business.
“With OpenEdge – a scalable and flexible platform – we were not only able to build a reliable solution, meeting even the most complex needs of our customers, but also to continuously develop it to live up to tomorrow’s new challenges. This, and our strong and long-time partnership with Progress, were instrumental in our acquisition by Toyota.”
“Congratulations to Revolution on its acquisition by Toyota, as this is a major milestone for an exceptional organisation,” said Gary Quinn, SVP, Core Field Operations, Progress.
“We are proud of our fruitful partnership and the role OpenEdge played in Revolution’s success. We look forward to continuing to work together in this new chapter of Revolution’s business.”
