Exhibitions company Hannover Fairs Australia (HFA) - part of Germny’s Deutsche Messe AG – has announced a buyout of of three digital events in Australia and New Zealand from Australian event organiser The Eventful Group.

The acquired events - specially designed to meet the needs of human resources specialists and professionals in the legal industry – are the Sydney-based HR Innovation & Tech Fest, the Legal Innovation & Tech Fest plus the Auckland-based HR Innovation & Tech Fest.

Tim Bostridge, managing director of HFA, said acquiring the new events is part of the company’s ongoing growth strategy in the technology sector.

Bostridge said the business already runs the successful annual B2B tech event CEBIT Australia, which will take place in Sydney from 29-31 October, CeMAT Australia which targets the intralogistics industry, as well as a number of other smaller targeted tech events.

“We are very committed to the technology market and are not only acquiring these events to strengthen our portfolio in this area, but also to lend our considerable expertise to these particular fields,” Bostridge said.

“We are thrilled to be working with these exciting events to help them grow and serve the market in a meaningful way.”

“These events are built to deliver great learning and networking outcomes for specific groups of industry-based technology users, suppliers and innovators.

“The team that has built these events has embedded themselves within each industry sector and achieved fantastic engagement to ensure that the content delivered both within the conference program and the display exhibition is up to the minute. We are delighted to welcome them into our business and to help grow the tech fest events which are superbly positioned in the market.”

According to HFA, the upcoming events represent the clear market leaders in in the field of human resource management as well as showcasing state-of-the-art solutions for the legal sector.

Ian Collier, Program Director for the newly acquired Tech Festivals, said he has seen all the expos grow exponentially.

“The explosion of the tech fest communities reflects how we are all living and working in an incredibly disruptive time right now,” he said. “In both the HR and legal communities, technology is paramount to this change.”

Jamie Carroll, who leads the commercial partnerships for the Tech Festival events, said: ‘’There’s been a huge amount of disruption and innovation in the HR, learning and development, and legal space over the past five years.

“Cloud-based platforms continue to grow extensively, but there are many new technologies and market players that are starting to emerge. There’s significant investment from enterprise across a wide range of platforms. Through the Tech Fest events we’ve managed to bring this all together in a big way, and we’re looking forward to taking these events to the next level.”
