Windows 7 family pack arrives in time for Christmas

By

Looking to upgrade your home PCs to Windows 7 Home Premium? Microsoft has a deal for you.

Microsoft usually sells the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade licence for $A199 as a download, or $A221.99 with a disc. There's also the Anytime Upgrade from Starter to Premium at $A140.

But in a "while stocks last" Christmas promotion, the company is offering a family pack that can be used to upgrade three PCs to Windows 7 Home Premium for $A249. The pack is available directly from Microsoft or at Bing Lee, Dick Smith, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, JB HI-FI, Officeworks and WOW Sight & Sound (price may vary).

The pack includes 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 Home Premium, and can be used to upgrade existing Windows 7 installations to Home Premium, or XP or Vista installations to Windows 7.

Windows 7 Home Premium features support for TV tuners, HomeGroup networking, media streaming, the Aero user interface, and more.

"The last time Microsoft offered up the family pack promotion to Australians it proved hugely popular, so Microsoft has listened once again to customer feedback and ensured we'd have this ready to go in time for Christmas," a Microsoft spokesperson said.
