VIDEOS: Arlo's security light system illuminates outdoor areas and alerts against potential threats

Arlo has newly launched a motion-activated, weather-resistant LED lighting system that works together with its famous wireless, rechargeable Arlo Security Cameras for an integrated outdoor security solution, with convenient wire-free setup.

Arlo was born from Netgear, one of the world's top networking equipment companies, and has been so successful over the past few years that the company has now listed on the stock market. It is still majority owned by Netgear, but is standing on its own feet as a smart security market leader.

Indeed, the company dubs itself as "the worldwide leader in smart home security products", and its latest innovation has arrived in Australia at last: the Arlo Security Light System.

The first of more additions to the best-selling Arlo Smart Home Security product portfolio to come, Arlo's all-new security light system is 100% wire-free and weather-resistant — just like the rest of the range — while the lights can be changed to virtually whatever colour you want.

It is "designed to illuminate dark, outdoor areas around the perimeter of homes and commercial properties", the Arlo Security Light System is not only "a smart lighting solution that enables users to receive alerts whenever motion is detected", but you can also manage your system via the Arlo mobile app.

When motion is detected, the smart light triggers the user’s Arlo Smart Home HD Security Cameras to record and turn on additional lights as desired through simple menu options in the Arlo app.

As you'd expect, the Arlo app enables you to remotely control your security lights from anywhere, instantly sending email or mobile alerts whenever the lights are activated. They can also be controlled with simple voice commands via the Arlo Skill for Amazon Alexa, while also being compatible with Google Assistant and IFTTT.

Arlo Technologies APAC vice-president and managing director Brad Little said: "Gone are the days of basic, non-connected security lights. Our all-new system is sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, working in concert with other products in the Arlo smart ecosystem for coordinated, automated outdoor detection and monitoring.

“A completely wire-free setup means Arlo Security Light users aren’t restricted by cords or power sources. Integration into the Arlo mobile app delivers instant alerts, coupled with smart automation features, all easily accessible and controllable remotely anywhere, anytime. We take security seriously and the exterior of the home is no exception.”

So, what about more details?

The Arlo Security Light System enables you to "illuminate and secure areas around their homes such as the entrance walkways, front gates, front yards, long driveways, deck and backyard areas including those behind the trees".

"Featuring superior motion sensitivity, the security lights can be adjusted to best serve each user’s specific security needs.

"Arlo Security Light System can be installed anywhere by any users without professional help, thanks to the battery power operation, and superior long range wireless connection to the bridge. It is shipped with rechargeable, removable battery and flexible mounting kit. Optional solar panel can be purchased separately to enable continuous operations without worrying about battery recharge.

"To further draw attention and deter intruders, the Arlo Security Light System makes it easy to change colours, flash on or off, adjust beam width and more. Lights can be set to automatically flash red, or any other colour, or illuminate in synchronised patterns individually or in groups when motion is detected by one of the lights or cameras, thus bringing attention to unexpected activity".

The Arlo Security Light System is available now through authorised Arlo partners and other reseller channels, ecommerce sites, and major retailers, and comes in two configurations:

  • The Arlo Security Light System with 1 Wire-Free Smart Light (ALS1101) retails for $249 RRP in Australia
  • The Arlo Security Light System with 2 Wire-Free Smart Lights (ALS1102) retails for $399 RRP in Australia

Arlo also launched its 4G LTE Arlo security camera earlier this year, which uses a 4G SIM card and rechargeable batteries, along with optional solar charging panel, so you can have the perfect, independent security camera system that you can take with you and use anywhere there is a 4G mobile signal.
