Outlook.com and Skype, a match made in heaven?

By

The marriage of Outlook.com and Skype has been legalised in six countries around the world, but unfortunately Australia isn’t one of them.

Users in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany and Brazil can nowmake Skype voice or video calls through Outlook.com.

The link between the two products lets Outlook.com users do Skype video chats, audio calling and instant messaging.

or everyone else? “For those of you outside those countries, we’re still working hard to ensure this is available worldwide in the near future,” Microsoft said in a blog post.

"E-mail is an important and personal tool for most people, but there are moments when you want to be able to speak live or chat face-to-face," Outlook group product manager Dawn Martynuik wrote.

"In a recent Ipsos Public Affairs poll 76 percent of people say that their e-mail conversations frequently or occasionally result in a follow-up phone or video call, or other means of communication. Those moments are perfect for Skype and now, face-to-face connection right from your inbox is just a click away."

As we reported earlier this week Windows 8.1 will come with Skype built-in when it's released later this year.
