Clicko's Cyber Monday claims growing support

By

200 small online businesses are already involved in an attempt to bring a US-style Cyber Monday online shopping event to Australia.

iTWire's Graeme Philipson labelled this year's Click Frenzy "a click flop", so it will be interesting to see how the competing Cyber Monday promotion organised by Clicko Deals fares next Monday.

According to Clicko Deals founder Mark Freidin, 200 small businesses have joined the promotion and will be offering items such as shoes, handbags, swimwear, travel products, and plants.

Big names participating in Australia's Cyber Monday include "US brands such as Macys, Bloomingdales, Sheplers and eBags as well as well-known Australian brands such as Bonds, David Lawrence and Tool HQ," he said.

Freidin emphasised the low cost to participate - just $1 for 20 deals.

"Some of the other one day sales are expensive to participate in. Small businesses can't afford that - and besides the more deals consumers have to choose from the better from our perspective," he said.

Freidin added "It will be interesting to see whether Australians show the same appetite to Cyber Monday."

It will also be interesting to see whether Clicko releases hard numbers on how well the event performs for participating retailers.
