Amazon promises to take "home entertainment to a new level" with three new Fire TV devices in Australia: the Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick and the all-new Alexa Voice Remote.

With Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) rising in popularity, Amazon has developed three new devices to streamline everyone's at-home, cinematic viewing experiences.

Naturally, Fire TV brings popular apps and content to the biggest screen in the home, including Netflix, Stan, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, ABC iView, 10 Play, and more, giving Aussies the ability to enjoy high-quality streaming at an affordable price.

In addition, Alexa on Fire TV means that you can check the weather, your calendar, ask for visual search results, control lights, smart plugs, and other compatible smart home devices.

Amazon's biggest competitor in this affordable space is the Chromecast with Google TV, which like the Fire TV Stick 4K retails for $99, which is half the price of the Apple TV HD, and $150 cheaper than the Apple TV 4K models, although each streaming TV device obviously has benefits and features that pertain to each system.

It also presumably portends a cheaper Apple TV stick type device to come in the future, although there is no word of this, and of course, if you're already in the Amazon ecosystem with devices you can control with Alexa, then a Fire TV stick is going to be the best choice for you, as the Chromecast with Google TV if you're in the Google Assistant ecosystem.

Naturally, each of those devices also work as great streaming TV devices, although the Apple TV also works as an excellent gaming console, so it's really horses for courses as to which device will suit you best depending on what you want to do with it, but if it's streaming TV, then they're all good choices.

All of that said, what are the features and benefits of Amazon's new devices, and what do they cost?

Fire TV Stick 4K - the image above was leaked, still waiting for the official images and links which we'll load into this article later today:

Amazon’s most powerful media streaming device for just $99, featuring:

  • 4K Ultra HD Quality: Delivering brilliant picture quality and vivid, lifelike colours at resolutions up to 4K Ultra HD, with support for Dolby Vision, HDR and HDR10+ as well as Dolby Atmos.
  • Enjoy easy access to high quality: Customers can use the included Alexa Voice Remote to easily find 4K Ultra HD movies and TV episodes. Simply plug the device into a 4K television, connect to Wi-Fi, and start streaming in minutes.
  • Features all-new Fire TV Experience: Offering a simpler, more personalised experience with improved content-discovery features, better browsing capabilities and unique user profiles for up to six members of a household, so everyone can stay entertained.

Fire TV Stick:

For $79, Amazon explains its new Fire TV Stick offers a full HD streaming experience, featuring:

  • Improved Speed: Built in 1.7 GHz quad-core processor and streaming in up to 1080p Full HD at 60fps with HDR compatibility, Fire TV Stick is powerful and fast.
  • Stay Entertained and Connected: The dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi supports 5 GHz networks for more stable streaming and fewer dropped connections.

  • Redesigned Fire TV Experience: Fire TV Stick ships with all-new Alexa Voice Remote.

All-new Alexa Voice Remote, which is included with both the Fire TV stick and the Fire TV Stick 4K:

The Alexa Voice Remote, now with dedicated app buttons and TV control also features:

  • Streamlined Home Entertainment: featuring dedicated power, volume, and mute buttons, along with the ability to use voice commands to find and control content. This means you can power on your compatible TV and AV equipment, all with a single remote.
  • Easy access to the content you want: Features new, dedicated buttons for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Amazon Music.
  • High Quality Streaming Bundle: The all-new Alexa Voice Remote is included with Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick.
  • Existing Fire TV stick owners aren't left out - the new Alexa Voice Remote will also be sold separately at $54 and is compatible with Fire TV Stick Lite and Fire TV Stick Basic Edition.

The Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick and Alexa Voice Remote will be available for preorder from Wednesday March 24 on and will begin shipping to customers on April 21.
