iTWireTV Interview: Okta ANZ MD, Philip Goldie explains the role of customer identity management

By

GUEST INTERVIEW: In the midst of Okta's City Tour in Sydney, Australia, Philip Goldie, the VP and MD of Okta ANZ joined iTWireTV to update us on the Okta journey in 2022, the main messages of the City Tour, the role of customer identity management and more.

Okta. Billed as the world’s No.1 identity platform, and consistently named as a leader by major analyst firms, Okta is known as a trusted partner to businesses around the world to secure digital interactions and accelerate innovation, not only protecting the identities of its customers workforce and users, but to ask what more can be made possible.

In business since 2009, Okta has secured some of the world's most innovative companies, with over 5000 employees worldwide, over 15,800 customers on its platform, including Zoom, T-Mobile, Nasdaq, Major League Baseball, Fedex, HPE, Peloton, Sonos, Github, Monash University, The Reject Shop, Gilbert & Tobin, catch.com.au, TAL, Swyftx and many thousands more, with over 7000 Okta integrations.

The platform includes everything needed for modern businesses and organisations, from SSO to MFA, identity governance and authentication, API access management, user management, lifecycle management and much more.

The Okta City Tour is an opportunity to connect with thought leaders, brainstorm with Okta employees, be inspired by customer success stories, and more, and you can still watch the sessions on-demand after the event if you weren't able to attend in person.

Earlier this month, Okta released the results of IDC’s Asia/Pacific Customer Identity and Access Management 2022 Survey commissioned by Okta. The study explores the dynamics of managing customer identity and access in a digital world, including the challenges that these organisations face, and how digital-first organisations fare against their peers. IDC surveyed senior and mid-level management personnel in IT and lines of business across 750 organisations in Asia Pacific (APAC) in April 2022 for this study.

The results are detailed in IDC white paper titled "The Role of Customer Identity Management in a Digital-First World", available for free download without registration.

The white paper looks at moving from digital transformation (DX) to digital-first, the prioritisation of customer satisfaction before agility, innovation and revenue, challenges with identity and benefits of investments in CIAM solutions, and digital-first strategy adoption in SMBs versus enterprises and in Asia/Pacific.

To learn more about Okta in 2022, and to discuss the white paper's findings, we spoke with Okta ANZ's VP and MD, Philip Goldie, with that video interview directly below, followed by a summary of the topics we spoke about, so please watch and read on!

  • I started by introducing Phil, and asked him to summarise the Okta story in 2022, and the products, services and benefits offered to customers globally.

  • Phil then covered the Okta City Tour, and the major points he wanted attendees to internalise, after which we discussed the findings of the Okta-sponsored IDC white paper on customer identity management.

  • We discussed the continuing momentum of digital acceleration due to the pandemic, interesting facts and figures, and how ANZ businesses are placed on the digital first spectrum.

  • Phil shared a typical onboarding process for a company new to Okta, what a day in the life is like for Phil as VP and MD of Okta ANZ, taking into account he has been in the role for three months, and where he sees Okta evolving over the next couple of years.

  • We finished with Phil sharing memories of his first computer, great advice received in life, and his final message to iTWire viewers and readers, and to Okta's current and future customers and partners.

So, please watch the video interview with Philip Goldie above to learn more!
