Chinese brands Huawei and Xiaomi are driving the growth of the global smartphone market at the expense of declining Samsung marketshare and flat sales for Apple which is facing a saturated premium smartphone market for its products.

Retail telecommunications is still the most complained about industry in New Zealand despite complaints levels remaining relatively flat year-on-year, according to a new consumer issues report from the competition enforcement agency, the Commerce Commission.

The Australian Government has made recommendations for further protections for telco consumers, including a strengthening of the role of the Telecommunications Ombudsman.
