Shipments of smartphone accessories — wearable bands and true wireless stereo devices — are expected to exceed 200 million units and 350 million units respectively in 2021.
Wearable bands, smart personal audio devices and smart speakers will show growth of 9.8% to 718 million units in 2020, the technology research firm Canalys has predicted, adding that this would be due to consumer IoT vendors looking for growth in markets that have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
Research firm Gartner predicts 18.4% growth in the wearables market in 2016, and a further 17.5% in 2017.
Apple will blow past Canalys’ 2014 estimate of 720,000 Android Wear watches as part of 4.6 million wearables sold in 2014 just with its initial order.
