The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman’s (TIO) latest systemic investigation report "reveals the problems with telco sales practices that can lead to consumers signing up for products or services they don’t understand or need."
Sales practices in Australia’s domestic travel sector, competition in aviation and the conduct of some caravan manufacturers - along with sales issues with digital platforms, energy and telecommunications and other business and industry sectors - have been laid out by Australia’s competition and consumer watchdog, the ACCC, in its compliance and enforcement priorities for 2021.
The Communications Alliance, Australia’s peak body for the telecommunications industry, has condemned the behaviour of a small number of service providers found to be engaged in “misleading sales practices”.
