The French Competition Authority (L’Autorité de la concurrence) has fined Apple €1.1 billion (A$2.01 billion) for allegedly conspiring with wholesalers to fix the prices of items like the iPad in order to reduce or eliminate competition.
Apple employs some of the best computing minds on the planet. It makes some of the best designed devices, both big and small. It has oodles of cash stashed away for rainy days.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has won a High Court appeal over Flight Centre's bid to induce three international airlines to enter price-fixing arrangements between 2005 and 2009 over air fares offered online by the airlines that were cheaper than those offered by Flight Centre.
