Sales of 5G connected cars in China will reach 7.1 million units in 2025, the technology analyst firm Counterpoint Research has forecast, adding that this would account for 40% of the volume of connected car sales.
By 2022, 50% of new vehicles will be shipped with V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) hardware, a technology that enables real-time short-range communication between vehicles. According to new research the technology, using 5G, will play an important role in the advance and development of autonomous vehicles.
Researchers at Western Australia’s Curtin University working with Mercedes Benz say they have created technology that will make an autonomous car commercially viable and affordable to the average-income person, within the next 10-years.
