The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has announced the allocation by the government, of a $1.5 million grant to fund Australia’s first green hydrogen innovation hub at Jandakot in Western Australia.

Just days after the Australian Information Industry Assocation chastised the expert panel reviewing the $10b Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) for failing to give any acknowledgement to the role of ICTs in clean energy development, the International Telecommunication Union has issued a 'call for action' to get greater recognition of the role information and communications technologies can play in sustainable development.

"Thailand is committed to the low-carbon pathway", says Dr. Twarath Sutabutr, Deputy Director-General, Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, in Thailand's Ministry of Energy. Dr Sutabutr heads up a high-level and expert list of energy speakers at the upcoming Clean Power Asia conference and expo in Bangkok, from 28-30 June.

Australia and the Philippines are just some of the more than 14 countries in the region that will present case studies and report back on renewable and cleaner fossil power projects during the upcoming Clean Power Asia in Bangkok from 28-30 June.

'Countries in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, may look to Thailand as they begin to craft legislation meant to encourage renewable energy generation,' says Andrew Beebe, Chief Commercial Officer, Suntech Power.
