Stung by bad publicity over the lack of a whole swag of ‘Ultimate Extras’ for users of Windows Vista Ultimate, Microsoft has launched a beta version of the ‘UltimatePC.com’ site. Designed to extol the benefits of the existing Ultimate Extras and offer ‘Ultimate Exclusive’ offers to Vista Ultimate users, the site is little more than an ad, and for now, a waste of cyberspace.

Reports have emerged across the web of users transforming Windows Server 2008 into ‘workstation’ mode, effectively using it for desktop work instead of Windows Vista. Some reports suggest it’s much faster than Vista, while others say it shouldn’t make any difference.

Survey confirms broadband users aren't stupid

AVRRA, the Australian Video Rental Retailers Association, says online movie downloads are a ‘tough sell’, referencing a Diffusion Group survey of 1,975 US broadband users claiming that only 9.5% say they regularly download movies. However, there is evidence to suggest that the results are skewed.
