Telstra brings mobile memo back to Australia

Six months ago Telstra outsourced operators for its mobile memo service to the Philippines. The telco has now announced it will be returning to native English-speaking operators.

The Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) has adopted a set of specifications for visual voicemail covering how messages are configured and retrieved on mobile handsets with the aim of greatly increasing uptake of the technology.

Although Vodafone proclaims it is “thrilled to be on the foot-front of innovation” in bringing Visual Voicemail to Australians more than 2 years after AT&T customers enjoyed it on day one, Vodafone’s tardiness is at least much faster than Telstra or Optus who still don’t offer it at all.

Exchange Server 2010 beta goes public

Microsoft has officially begun the public beta program for Exchange Server 2010.

SpinVox, the company whose technology underpins Telstra's Voice2Text messaging service, has made its voicemail to text conversion services available to all Skype voicemail users, 18 months  after announcing plans to do so.

Telstra is now making available to all consumer customers, what it says is an “innovative service” – the conversion of voicemail to text – after encouraging feedback from its business customers using the new service.
