Chinese brands are continuing to dominate the Indian smartphone market, with first-quarter 2019 figures from analyst firm Counterpoint Research showing that their share of the market grew 20% year-on-year, to reach a record 66%.
Smartphone shipments in China fell 9.7% in the last quarter of 2018, falling to 103 million units, the technology analyst firm IDC says. For the year, shipments fell by 10.5%.
India provided one of the few bright spots for smartphone companies in 2018, with shipments up 10% to 137 million units, an increase of 12 million units over the previous year.
