OPPO, one of three smartphone brands owned by giant B.B.K. Electronics, has become the number one smartphone brand in China for the first time, the technology analyst firm Counterpoint Research says, adding that this was achieved in January. The global market for refurbished smartphones in 2019 fell by 1% year-on-year to about 137 million units, the technology analyst firm Counterpoint Research says, adding that a 1% increase in the second half of the year was not enough to offset a decline in the first half.
Global smartphone shipments have fallen below 300 million units for the first time in a quarter, falling 13% year-on-year during the first quarter of 2020, the technology analyst firm Counterpoint Research says, adding that this is the first time since 1Q 2014 that the number of units shipped has fallen below this figure.
