Merger with Vodafone serves Hutchison well

Hutchison Telecommunications Australia's (ASX: HTA 50 percent share of the VHA joint venture gave it a $17.9m profit for the first six months of 2010 and EBITDA of $222.7m.

For budget conscious mobile users, a key feature that often draws them to plans of particular carriers is the ability to make free calls to contacts on the same network. Now 3 and Vodafone, which joined forces last year under Vodafone Hutchison Australia, have announced a new application which enables users to see which of their contacts are fellow users and are therefore free to call.

Bill Shock - how about some common sense?

 

Once again, some expert has been quoted in one of the daily papers, discussing how buyers are likely to be hit with 'bill shock' for using more data or calls than their capped plan includes. Well, I for one am getting a little sick of this. Sure, the telcos are out there to make as much money from us as possible but we, as users, also bear some of the responsibility.

Vodafone picks up Ashes mantle from 3

Part of the telco merger between Vodafone and 3 means a reimaging of the brand.  For many years 3 has supported the endeavours of the Australian cricket team, but from this upcoming Ashes tour Vodafone Hutchison Australia will pick up the cheque.  iTWire spoke to Vodafone CEO Nigel Dews about cricket, Android and 3G networks.

VHA offers unlimited data for iPad users

VHA has announced prepaid and postpaid data plans specific to the iPad, which will be sold under both the Vodafone and 3 brands and which include an unlimited option for $49.95.
