New legislation has just come into force in Australia, enshrining in law access to broadband services for all Australians regardless of where they live, and which the Federal Government says "guarantees" broadband access for everyone.
The Federal Government is looking for input from regional and rural Australians on a new program designed to improve digital connectivity for people living in regional areas.
The Federal Government has decided that the Universal Service Guarantee will continue to use the existing arrangements for delivering its Universal Service Obligation. Telstra copper and wireless networks will be used in rural and remote Australia for the provision of voice services in NBN fixed wireless and satellite areas.
