The coronavirus pandemic will not prevent the merger between Vodafone Hutchison Australia and TPG Telecom from going ahead by mid-year, the two companies involved have indicated.
Vodafone Hutchison Australia chief executive Iñaki Berroeta has welcomed the decision by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission not to appeal against the Federal Court's ruling that the merger with TPG Telecom could go ahead.
TPG Telecom has recorded a net profit after tax of $143.6 million for the first half of its current financial year — which ended on 31 January — mostly due to the changes in wholesale pricing of plans by the NBN Co, the company rolling out Australia's broadband network.
