Ericsson says the move towards commercial Spectrum Sharing continues to gather pace with a 5G smartphone from Chinese manufacturer OPPO now added to its 5G ecosystem, and successfully tested with a transglobal 5G data call in live commercial 5G networks involving Telstra, Qualcomm Technologies and Swissscom.

International data roaming provider Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills is claiming a world first with the “major milestone” establishment of an intercontinental live 5G data roaming service between Swiss operator Swisscom and South Korean carrier SK Telecom.

Ericsson and Switzerland’s largest telecommunications service provider, Swisscom, have partnered to switch on what they say is the first large-scale commercial 5G network in Europe to support commercially available smartphones.

A choice seemingly as safe as a Swiss bank is Ericsson, which is supplying Swiss telco Swisscom with the latest Gigabit and 5G tech, re-affirming an existing long-standing strategic partnership.

Hospitality Services Plus SA, a fully-owned subsidiary of Swisscom, announced today that it will acquire Wayport Holdings A/S, an AT&T company providing network-based guest services to hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The acquisition will strengthen Swisscom Hospitality's presence in Europe including the Nordic countries, and expand its international footprint to new markets such as Russia and the Middle East.
