It may take some time to digest this, but the the head of Sweden's telecommunications equipment vendor, Ericsson, is lobbying the government to lift ban on his main competitor, China's Huawei.
A technologist and inventor has poured cold water on the oft-touted notion that the Open Radio Access Network Policy Coalition — better known as the Open RAN coalition — will produce anything in the short term to replace products from Chinese vendor Huawei Technologies, which the US and many of its allies have banned from their 5G networks.
The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority says it plans to resume the country's 5G spectrum auctions on 19 January, after obtaining approval from a court to go ahead with the same, despite the fact that Chinese vendor Huawei Technologies has gone to court over being excluded from the auctions.
