GUEST OPINION: Cybercrime flourished in 2021, and there are no signs of a slowdown in 2022. There are several factors behind this high-confidence prediction.
Malicious attackers appear to have used the Windows SunCrypt ransomware to attack the Texas operations of global steel conglomerate JSW Steel, and have leaked a single company document on the dark web, apparently one which was stolen during the attack.
Ransomware gangs appear to have added another tool to their arsenal in order to extort ransoms from their victims, with some using distributed denial of service attacks to pile on the pressure.
