Southern Cross picks SES to bridge cable upgrade

Southern Cross Cables is using SES Networks' O3b satellite constellation to improve communications between Nukunonu of Tokelau, Kiritimati Island of Kiribati and the rest of the world while it upgrades the Southern Cross undersea cable network.

Southern Cross, Alcatel ink deal for NEXT submarine cable supply contract

Cable company Southern Cross Cable and Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) have signed a contract for ASN to supply the Southern Cross NEXT submarine cable, based on an open cable architecture.

AARNet and Southern Cross upgrade Pacific link to 100Gbps

The Southern Cross Trans-Pacific Optical Research Testbed (SXTransPORT) dual submarine optical fibre links between Sydney and North America have been upgraded to 100Gbps.
