The US ban on Huawei is preventing rural wireless operators in the country from upgrading their gear, with many companies that provide service in such areas having used the cheaper equipment that the Chinese company sells.
Rural and low-income Americans would be affected by a Federal Communications Commission decision not to allow subsidies for purchase of Huawei Technologies equipment, the Chinese telecommunications firm has said in a filing.
The US Rural Wireless Association has told the Federal Communications Commission that blocking subsidies to Chinese telecommunications companies Huawei and ZTE would affect the deployment of broadband networks in rural areas and also not contribute in any way to national security.
