Renesas wants synergy from IoT

There will be 20 billion devices half the planet connected to the Internet of Things by 2020. But the lack of open standards, security, licensing, and interoperability with analytics and clouds is a major concern.

Nokia is selling its wireless modem business to Japanese chipmaker, Renesas Electronics Corporation for $US200m along with 1,100 employees and the two will form an alliance to develop modem technologies for HSPA+/LTE and its evolution.
