After talking tough about cutting off functionality to users if they refuse to accept new changes to privacy from 15 May, WhatsApp has backed down and now says this will not be implemented.

India has given WhatsApp, a company owned by Facebook, a week to drop its proposed new privacy policy or face punitive action. WhatsApp is not enforcing the new privacy policy in European Union countries.

WhatsApp users will be unable to read or send messages from the app soon after the 15 May deadline for its new changes in privacy expires, the company says in a FAQ.

AVG delivers new privacy policy

AVG has made good with a promise it made earlier this year and released a privacy policy which it says gives users of its security services basic information of what data it collects and how it’s used.
