COMPANY NEWS by NEC/Telefonica: Telecommunications service provider Telefonica and NEC Corporation have entered an agreement to conduct Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) pre-commercial trials in Telefonica's four core global markets of Spain, Germany, the UK and Brazil.

NEC and Mavenir announced that they have jointly collaborated in a live 5G Open RAN massive MIMO deployment as part of Deutsche Telekom's initiative, "O-RAN Town".

NEC and Microelectronics Technology Inc (MTI), a network RF solutions provider, announced a collaboration to enhance the Open RAN ecosystem with a variety of radio options to cater to global 4G and 5G markets.

NEC announced the joint development of RAN Intelligent Controllers (RIC) with NTT DOCOMO, INC. (DOCOMO) in support of intelligent Radio Access Networks (RAN). The two companies are aiming to reduce RAN operational costs, improve performance, and reduce power consumption through the use of RIC.
