Non-profit consumer action group Digital Tasmania has decried the fact that a $5.2 million investment to upgrade mobile services in Tasmania's west coast region has been limited to just one mobile operator – Telstra.
The rollout of the national mobile blackspot program has seen the town of Panuara South in central NSW become the latest community to have mobile phone coverage improved with the switching on of a new tower by Optus.
Regional Australian lobby group the Rural Regional and Remote Communications Coalition has welcomed the announcement from the Australian Government which will see regional Australians benefit from 180 new mobile base stations as part of Round 4 of the mobile black spot program.
Presumably in the hope that the regions will go all the way with VHA, the company has delivered expanded 4G coverage in Westdale in Kootingal as part of a $5.3 investment to build 15 new sites in New England this year.
The famous Pub With No Beer has had beer for quite some time, but it’s only now, halfway through 2017, that mobile coverage is finally on tap.
