Apple is on course for a record quarter with its massive iPhone 6 sales, seeing rising sales in the US, Australia, China, the UK and 5 other economies but falling in Japan, with Android’s commanding lead dropping slightly in 5 of the 10 major economies and even Windows Phone growing in 3 economies but steady in Australia and falling in the others.
Kantar’s latest smartphone sales data, over 3 months to Sept 2014, shows 73.9% share for Android in Europe, 15.4% for Apple and Windows Phone at 9.2%, with high demand for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is continuing to dominate the Chinese smartphone market, holding the top spot for the fourth consecutive month, and its international success is "just a matter of time" according to analysts.
