Juniper & Nokia Siemens team for carrier ethernet

Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks are planning to deliver "a fully interoperable carrier ethernet solution intended to provide resilient access and aggregation for service providers worldwide," though an expansion of their existing partnership.

The Internet today is a 'best effort' service but the IPsphere Forum has been developing a set of specifications that will enable services to be delivered across different interconnected networks with guaranteed grades of service - for a fee - and Telstra is taking part in the first multi-site trial of this framework using technology from Juniper Networks and others.

Juniper Networks has jumped into the data centre fray, partnering with IBM to launch a new offering for data centre consolidation, server virtualization and sustainable information technology. Juniper, like most of its rivals these days, is claiming significant green credentials for its new data centre solution.
