TPG Telecom and Samsung Electronics Australia have expanded their 5G mmWave technology collaboration to more trial sites after successfully completing the first 5G virtualised, radio access network (vRAN) trials with 26GHz mmWave in Australia.
Australia's second biggest telco Singtel Optus has teamed up with Swedish telecommunications equipment provider Ericsson to make what it claims is the world's first 2300 + 3500MHz 5G non-standalone carrier aggregation call.
Optus has announced the successful launch of a “world-first’ 2300MHz and 3500MHz spectrum 5G dual-band production network in partnership with Ericsson and Samsung, which it says has the potential to increase 5G capacity and coverage to Optus customers.
Telstra will start selling the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G on Tuesday, either on a standalone lease or else as an upgrade to customers who purchased a Samsung Galaxy S10+ through Telstra. The upgrade will be available for 21 days.
It's not just Samsung's products that get upgraded on a regular basis, but its highly performing executives, too, with Garry McGregor promoted to vice-president, IT and Mobile, for Samsung Electronics Australia.
