Microsoft has fired the next shot in the browser battery-usage wars, by posting a fresh video that shows its browser, Edge, beating Google's Chrome, Opera and Firefox in battery usage on a Surface Book which runs Windows 10.
Google appears to be hitting back at claims by Microsoft that its browser, Chrome, is heavy on laptop battery use, by posting a video of the new version, 53, running a movie clip on a Microsoft Surface Book for as long as 10 hours and 39 minutes.
Microsoft is trying to push Windows 10 users to do their browsing with its new Edge browser, by sending them so-called Windows Tips that the browser is more efficient at power usage than either Firefox or Chrome.
