Australians have already lost over $300,000 to rental and accommodation scams this year - an increase of 76% compared to the same time last year - by responding to fake advertisements posted on real estate or classified websites.
Online marketplace Gumtree has been given the green light by Australia’s competition regulator to acquire online automotive advertising classifieds services company Cox Media Solutions, allowing Gumtree Cars to be combined with Cox’s Carsguide and Autotrader sites.
New Zealand’s competition enforcement and regulatory agency, The Commerce Commission, has knocked back the acquisition of Motorcentral, a Christchurch-based supplier of motor vehicle dealer management (DMS) software, by Trade Me, an online marketplace and classified advertising platform.
