Search giant Google has offered another clarification, the second since it proudly announced "a new news experience launching later this year", with its vice-president of News, Richard Gingras authoring a fresh blog post on Friday (Saturday Australian time) to either clarify — or add confusion to, depending on how you look at it — the initial announcement by Brad Bender, the company's vice-president of Product Management in the news division.

Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei Technologies has been given the green light to invest £1 billion (A$1.8 billion) in a research centre close to Cambridge in the UK that will focus on chip research and manufacturing.

The Australian Government appears to have decided to outsource its cyber security strategy to the US, calling in the former US secretary of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen, to play a role in drafting the country's 2020 strategy in what seems to be admission of a longstanding cultural cringe and also an indictment of all the Australian cyber security professionals.
