Australian Cyber Week 2019 has launched with a week-long series of events and activities nationally coordinated by AustCyber – the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network - and with a focus on cybercrime and Australia's growing cyber security sector.
Four of Australia’s security firms have questioned whether enough is being done to defend businesses and organisations against security attacks by cybercriminals in the wake of a report by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) revealing malicious or criminal attacks dominated data breaches over a three month period to the end of June.
Banks and other businesses regulated by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority will have to abide by a new set of rules governing information security, including cyber crime, from 1 July.
