Australia is scheduled to begin a trial of its Govpass ID system in October, a mere two months down the line. Yet, nobody knows who will be the cloud host for the system after Vault Systems (which has recently rebranded itself as Vault) was unceremoniously yanked from the job.
The trial of Govpass, the ID system that is being planned so Australians can avoid having to repeatedly prove their identity when using government services, will go ahead in October as planned, despite the fact that the cloud provider, Vault Systems, was unceremoniously shown the door.
ASD-certified Protected cloud provider Vault Systems has lost its role as cloud host of the Govpass ID system, with the government's Digital Transformation Agency deciding instead that the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Human Services would assume responsibility for hosting the components of the digital identity system.
