Global payments technology firm Visa claims it has used its artificial intelligence to prevent more than $560 million in fraud affecting Australian businesses during the 2019-20 financial year.
Australians are relatively positive about the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in society, but concerns remain around privacy and threats to jobs , according to a new national survey by Monash University, which also reveals that understandings of AI are varied – from robots “taking over the world” to computers being programmed to perform tasks in a positive fashion.
The global artificial intelligence market, including software, hardware and services, will generate revenues of of US$156.5 billion (A$217 billion) in 2020, a rise of 12.3% year-on-year, the technology analyst firm IDC has forecast based on its Worldwide Semiannual Artificial Intelligence Tracker.
