Muted reaction trails state budget

IT reaction to the NSW Government budget has been muted. Given the lack of much in the way of new investment programmes in ICT, it's being a dubbed a business-as-usual budget in the run up to the State election.

Schools CIO lacks anti-Abbott plan

Stephen Wilson, chief information officer of the NSW Department of Education and Training does not have a Plan B for making computers available to state school students if the Federal Opposition makes good its threat to pull the plug on the Digital Education Revolution if elected to Government.

The AIIA has hailed as "a major breakthrough for the ICT industry" a decision by the Federal Government to establish a default position in favour of ICT suppliers owning the IP for software developed under contract with any Financial Management and Accountability Act agency.
